Eva Johansson is an Associate Professor at Gothenburg University, Sweden. Eva will be conducting research on a Cross Cultural Study of Morality from Toddlers' Perspectives.

Thanh is a Lecturer at the National EC Training College No 3, Hochiminh City. Thanh will be conducting research on Creating Learning Environments for Preschool Children.


 

Professor Lesley Abbott

Professor Abbott is Professor of Early Years Education, Manchester Metropolitan University. She is a prodigious writer and spokesperson in teacher education and serves on the House of Commons Education Select Committee and the Government Preschool Review.

Emeritus Professor Bernard (Bud) Spodek

During his time at QUT Professor Spodek offered CASEC seminars related to his current leadership interests, including the highly successful inaugural conference of the Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association (PECERA) in Japan, July 2000 and his work on culture, history and curriculum.
     
Professor Spodek has a world wide reputation as an academic working in the field of early childhood education. He has an enviable publications record and his texts are widely used in early childhood teacher education courses. One of his current areas of interest is the history of ideas influencing early childhood curriculum and teaching, which was the focus of his Keynote address at the prestigious OMEP (Organisation Mondiale Pour L’Education Prescolaire) conference held in Singapore in 1999.
     
In addition, Professor Spodek’s involvement with staff in the School of Early Childhood had a significant influence on the achievement of the School’s goal of extending its research focus on Australian curriculum and teaching development. Professor Spodek’s capacity to highlight comparative aspects of curriculum development in the Asia Pacific was of value to members of the School who were analysing and documenting Australian early childhood curriculum developments during the twentieth century.

Professor Christine Eiser

Chris is a developmental psychologist with a particular interest in quality of life of young children. Chris presented a seminar titled `Measuring the effects of long-term illness on children's development and quality of life' as part of the CASEC Seminar Series.

Professor Christine Pascal

In 1991 Christine Pascal was appointed Professor in Early Childhood Education and Director of the Centre for Research in Early Childhood at University College Worcester. Christine presented two keynote addresses: `The Challenges and Joys of Educating Young Children - in all settings' and `Evaluating and Improving Quality in Early Childhood Settings: A Developmental & Empowering Approach' at the Our Children the Future early childhood conference in Adelaide.

Dr Tony Bertram

From 1995 Dr Bertram has been Senior Research Fellow on the Effective Early Learning Project, University College of Worcester. Tony is presenting a keynote address on `Attitudes, Dispositions and Emotional Well Being: The Superskills of Early Learning' at the Our Children the Future early childhood conference in Adelaide.

Professor Sally Lubeck

Professor Lubeck is highly regarded in the field of early childhood education and maintains an international reputation through her publication and research record. Professor Lubeck has research interests that involve economically disadvantaged young children and children from culturally diverse backgrounds. In her work in both these areas, Professor Lubeck has led the early childhood field, beginning with her book `Sandbox society: Early education in black and white America - A comparative ethnography' (1985).
